If a doc is invited to the court ...

is this an exception where the doc can break confidentiality and give all the info about the patient (as FA sais) ?

or

will the doc show up in the court but give no info about the pt health info ( as Dugherty sais ) ?

Thats right. Your loyalty is to your PATIENT... Especially in the USMLE, the PATIENT comes first above everything else.

I guess 'unless there's potential to harm self/others' come into play though?

Yes there are exceptions to the rule of keeping confidentiality and that is one of them: if there is a risk of harm to self (patient) or others... Then it is your duty to detain the patient, inform authorities, and also inform the potential victim. you must do ALL three things... simply informing the police is not enough.
