Hi. I wanted to understand the concept of Hypercalcemia and Hypocalcemia. How do they affect the RMP of muscles?

not much effect in theory(use Nerst equation to figure out) but hypocalcemia decreases the threshold for action potentials.

hypocalcemia => sensitize Na channel (by decreasing blockage of Na channel) => easily depolarize => hyper-excitability hypercalcemia => desensitize Na channel (by increasing blockage of Na channel) => hardly depolarize => hypo-excitability but i don't think it has a great effect on resting membrane potential
