explain prognosis very clearly....dont give false hopes..reassure that u will do all in ur capacity to make his/her last days as comfortable as possible.. with good pain relief etc...ask the patient if he needs to speak to a councellor to help deal with this stressfull event..ask if he /she has any advance directives..
hospice is a care center for terminaly ill patients where all their basic neds are taken care of like painrelief, nutrtion ..to make them comfortable in their last days.no aggresive treatments/ resuscitation measures are used there....
hence it s agood option to be suggested to the patient if need be..
