Hi everybody! Just got home from my step 1. It was exhausting! I´m really happy that it´s over. Have to say that it was a lot harder than I thought. It really was the level of USMLEWorld. The PROMETRIC- Test Center was excellent, the staff was helpful, funny and really nice. It was clean, modern and very quiet. Now I will take my long awaited nap and will pray for my score. Good luck to everybody! The feeling that it´s over is just too good!

Hi guys, sincere thanks for your nice words. I´m so glad it´s over! I hope all of you who have the test coming up make the most of the time before it. Don´t read any new stuff. Just repeat, repeat, repeat. And if you can, do some UW questions. My test was very similar, not to the UW questions but to the style and level of the UW questions. Now good luck to everybody!

All the best for your score, Anne. That's the exact same feeling I had. That it was as hard as UW, NOT easier as I had hoped. Sleep tight!

Hi everybody, will post my prep time and material another time. Thought, I would first wait for my score. Here is what I wanna post about my exam: High yield: Patho (every organ system), Physio, Oncology, Molecular and Genetics, a lot of questions where I first thought "WHAT????" but at the end the real thing they asked about was quite simple. I think with those questions you really have to prove calmness and good nerves. Low yield: Embryology, Anatomy Be aware: Others say other things about their exams. A lot of people posted, that embryology was high yield in their exam. My questions resembled the style of UW. Kaplan is good for memorization but I really recommend to totally focus on UW the last weeks before the exam. It just trains you well in thinking in several steps. The day was hard and I was totally spent for a couple of days. Have a good night sleep the night before and take some sandwiches, fruit or chocolate with you. This really pushes you when you think that you can´t go on. Will post my score here, still waiting nervously. Good luck to everybody and God bless. Anne

Hi everybody, Now about my background, preparation time and scores: I´m a 2007 graduate from Germany. Prep time: Jan 7th until March 12th, studied about 6-9 hours every day, there were about 7 or 8 days where I didn´t study at all (had pneumonia, bad, bad, bad....) I have to say, due to my short schedule, I was really focused from the very beginning. There was basically nothing else but studying for me for these two months. Material: First Aid, First Aid cases and First Aid Q & A (loooove those books), Kaplan QBank, USMLEWorld, USMLE free practice test. Read all FA-books from cover to cover. Did a chapter in FA, then read the corresponding cases and the answered the corresponding questions in FA Q & A. This all for one month. Then started Kaplan QBank and USMLEWorld. In USMLE World I did all questions (2034), Kaplan about 1500. I read almost all comments, mostly those of the questions that I got wrong but also the ones I had right. I left out comments of questions where the answer was totally clear to me to save time on my tight schedule. Scores: USMLEWorld: 60% Kaplan QBank: 75% USMLE free practice test: 80% FA Q & A: About 75% Got my USMLE exam score today (about 9:15 am): 233/97 And: I am MORE than HAPPY! yippiiiyaiyeeeeh Thanks to everybody for your support, you all really helped me a lot through this hard time. Please ask me questions if you have some and best of luck to everybody for your preparation and exam. You really can rock it! God bless, Anne MOD EDIT: The threads have been merged.

Hi vasorum, 60% was overall. I started with around 48% but pretty quickly I got used to the style of the questions. So I was up to 60 or even 72 quickly. But overall the 60% was pretty consistent. Good luck to you!

Hi! @ bhanusupriya: I totally understand where you´re coming from. It IS hard to do that. Let me see: sat down at 10 am after having a light breakfast. Studied until 12 or 12:30. Then had lunch, took a 30 min break, sometimes an hour. Went back to studying at around 1pm. Studied until 4. Prepared dinner for me, my stepson and my husband. Around 5 or 6 went back to studying for sometimes another 3-4 hours. Studying ended sometimes at 9 or 10 pm. This is like a typical day. Sometimes it was less of course. I think the key points are the following: -take breaks: every hour for 5 min -open your windows: fresh air helps against tiredness -drink plenty: I drank 2-3 liters of water each day, keeps the circulation in your brain steady (sounds crazy but is not a joke) - after getting terrible pains in my lower back I changed to a more comfortable chair the most important is the psychological thing: have your goal in your mind all the time, tell yourself: I WANT this to turn out good and I WILL make it turn out good by studying very hard because that´s the only thing I can do to control the situation. I hope, this helped a littlebit! Good luck with everything! @zainy: Be patient. For most of the test takers the result was better than they thought. So was mine :-) Have a nice day everybody!
