Hello fellows.

I just wanted to start this thread in the IMG folder because it only concerns to us IMGs

If you are planning for OB/GYN on 2009 match... I am going to suggest that you try as hard as you can to get a pre match.

I truned down one for this years match and was left unmatched.... now I am very unstable in every single aspect of my life... so d not make that mistake.

What people say that is is very competitive is TRUE... unfortunatelly for us stubborn IMGs that do not want to settle for anything else.... so if this is what you really want... if here is where your heart is... just try to get a pre match

GL to all of you.

I agree... A prematch is something that is GUARANTEED, right then and there... There are no guarantees in the Match... so why take a chance especially if you have very few places where you interviewed and are uncertain if they will rank you highly... The match is really a gamble, many places go unfilled and many applicants go unmatched... If you get a prematch, take it and thank God you got it.

This means that you interview at a place and they like you and they want you. You like them too and so they ask you if you would like to accept the offer without going through the match, but rather directly through them. You then get the paperwork, start the process of filling out everything, and drop out of the match. Note: YOU MUST drop out of the match once you have accepted a prematch offer or else you are violating match contract.

hello anamgarcia, sorry to hear of your painful experience. thanks for the advice. do u think its possible to get an h1 on prematch in obgyn.my credentials are 95/90/cs attempt and giving step 3 in july.

hi docfor99, I don't have any experience here. But I would suggest you to try if you are or were an ob/gyn in your home country. Or if you were not, get some exposures in ob/gyn here in the states. your score are good. Once you are screened for an interview, the score would mean nothing but your overall qualification matters. GL.
