What do you think? I've just finished my 6 years study in the college .. I've passed the final exam in surgery, internal medicine, Gyn. & Obst. and Pediatrics about 5 months ago .. and I have good knowledge about them .. SO I thought to start with step 2 so that I don't lose my knowledge about these subjects. and to save time. I want to know our opinions. is it wise to start with step 2 first? Thanks.

here's my suggestion, it's doable, i was one of them.. i graduated, started with ck prep, took kaplan course, and so forth.. theony bad thing i had was huge anxiety issues with these exas, but essentially u will be looking up stuff that covers ur step 1 during the time ur studying for step 2.. the good thing is that if u do uworld bank, they go and explain the pathophysio questions, the mechanisms of drugs, and so forth which re a lot like step 1 questions.. they have overlapped so much of tehse exams that the only difference is step 1 has biochem/molecular/genetics in my opinion.. i passed ck, took step 1 and failed, and now taking step 1 again.. its within my reach, i just dont want to fail again, i did fine in step 2 b/c it didnt have all that bs jibberish of step 1 like biochemical pathways, genetics and cellular/molecular bio nonsense that i still am like 'what????'.. so advice? it can be done, if that's wat u like, do it! just know whihever exam u start with first, that one will take longer since the other exam will overlap a lot, but willl need some specific tweeking for that specific test. Do kaplan notes/videos (course is best in my opnion but i know financial strains), uworld to emphasize the material, secrets for review (excellent) and nbmes, and ull do fine!! just my suggestion from someone whose done it already.. best o luc!!!

i would say do step1 first because its the hardest one. when your done with step1 you will be exhauseted from taking exams but it will make step2 easier because when you prepare for step2 your material from step1 will be fresh and you will find it easy because you will be at an advantage compared to someone who has no clinical knowledge already. Either way they are tough exams so i was happy when step1 was out of the way...if i had done step2 first then i would be dreading studying for step1 also i would always wounder what is the assumed stuff they want me to know during the step2 that i dont from step1.
