If a program allows their pgy1 to do two months of elective in the first year, should it be both done in the subspecialty that one wants to do their fellowship in?

Thanks BBB, but my question is if we are given two months of elective and I am interested in doing GI in the future should I do two months of GI to be more competitive for fellowship application in the future. I know that you said to do it at the end of the first year and some program does not allow repeats of elective.,but what if they do allow it? Should I still just do that certain elective once at the end of the year as suggested?

I can only tell you what I have learned in 20 years.
