As far as I know, it's OK to sell your old [original and paid for] books once you're done with them. What's prohibited is making multiple copies of a single book and selling them all. This is what Conrad Fischer indicated. What are we supposed to do with all our old books once we're done using them? My 2 cents.

doc.sweden wrote:Hi dear friends I just want to give you a piece of advice. Thoese of us who are Kaplan students recieved the new CS books and we could keep the old ones. Many studens have been selling the old books online and now Kaplan have started chasing thoes students. I know that they've found some of them and it will be some legal action against them. Just wanted to warn you future doctors not to risk your future as a doctor in America...Don't sell the books..they're chasing the ones who sell them. best wishes on your studies Dude once you pay for a book you are officially the owner and you can do whatever you want to do with it. All you cant do is make copies of it and then sell it. That is a Copyright issue. Something totally different. And if Kaplan is doing that they cant sue for selling your books. If something like that was happening the UW ppl would have gotten most of the applications cancelled by ECFMG because of Copyright issues. Moi 2 cents.

cool down buddies..there's no need to argue.. i don't know for sure what is true and which action is prohibited....but, of course, anyone of us is able to read the ''Not for resale'' sign in the first page. have it in mind..just in case.. best of luck to everyone ........and away from jail

sorry to rake this topic. its only for information sake. There seems to be some truth in what doc is saying. I dont' think all copyrights are same. For example you buy FA and can resell it to someone else. But you cannot do that with UW. I have subscribed to UW CS and you are allowed to print out the cases, but you cannot even distribute it to anyone else - even for free. I think there is a different kind of license that applies here. maybe the same with kaplan material. Who knows?
