To Dear BBB, I read in one of your posts that it's possible to change your visa from H1 to J1 if your fellowship program supports only J1. Can you please tell me what will be the eligibility period for the J1 now (transferred from H1)?? Will that be valid for 7 years more or the years left in the H1 eligibility (mostly 3 years) or till you finish your training? Really appreciate all your help.

They are completely different visas. If you haven't been on a J1 visa and you now have one, you would have the max number of years. Check with ECFMG to be certain.
