Hello!

I m in a wierd situation. I'm scheduled to do an elective that required a B1 visa which I got without any problem. I applied for another elective right after the first one, but this one requires a F1. everything was alright till second univ coordinator told me I can't do one elective on one visa and the next on the other. so basically told me to choose between them.

All this happened in such a short notice that there is no way I could arrange for another elective, which if I don't do I won't be able to graduate on time. Not to mention I had scheduled my CS two weeks after the end of the second elective. If he denies me this elective for this visa reason then (1) I won't graduate on time= won't be able to apply for a residency this year inspite everything else being done on time (2) I'll stay 6 weeks in the states doing nothing?! (spending on housing etc for no purpose)

I called the embassy, they have no problem issuing two types of visa.

I simply can't understand what is wrong in doing an elective on a B1 and the second one on a F1. I met all the requirements they asked for, and now that I'm about to fly(in a week) this new prohibition comes up.

bbb, please help me with this! is there really something legal that prohibits me from doing this, or it's just the ignorance of the electives coordinator?

Does anyone know, how much time does it take to change a B1 to a F1?
