mehvishalavi wrote: does this get better or not? well yes it does and you have to stick to the plan you make or schedule you have already planned. If you are at Live lectures then honestly you should not have much problems. The biggest misconception people have when they enter Kaplan or any other review course is that the centre will teach you things. Well NEWS FLASH that aint happening. What they can actually do for you is that they can help you go thru it faster than you would on your own. Clear a lot of concepts and refresh things for you other than that you have to memorise or learn it on your own. So the best strategy is to have a first reading highlight the point where you have difficulty and trouble and then enter the course. So before heading into Lectures review the material a night before which they will review the next day. But i m pretty sure that you are doing the same. Also remember that after your live lectures are done you have to have to have to give the exam in the next 20-30 days otherwise the money spent is sort of wasted if you delay it more. Moi 2 cents

Your two cents is right on the money!!! A good way to kick start your studies is questions... people tend to believe questions should be at the tail-end of studying... not true - questions reinforce what you do know and forces you to read what you don't know... moi 2 cents - if you are stuck in a rut, start your q-bank!!! goodluck

hi there, sorry you seem troubled. but i give you a lot of credit for being able to sit through the live lectures. at first glance they seem too intimidating to go through so many textbooks in such little time. even though someone else is doing the teaching, to sit there and try to absorb it , is pretty tough discipline! it does get hard at the beginning, the middle the end, but you also have a lota easy moments too. its medicine, it has to be hard, otherwise everyone owuld be docs right?! if you feel like a topic is too hard, and you think you just won't ever learn it, break it up in small time frames. tell yourself you want to solely concentrate on these two pages for one hour. use the audio alongside it. hopefully the audio along with the notes is a good crutch and you feel familiar. then do the audio on its own hopefully you can nod along. . THEN do the notes on your own to really see if you understand. give yourself time frames to help build your confidence. if the entire chapter seems impossible, you are a hero to eventually get through the 2 pages! after wards, do another two pages. give yourself a little task to do , "at the end of the day,, you want to finish 8 pages". it sounds so tiny, and so useless, and you think you will never finish your prep at this pace. but agin, its only on the hard topics right. this will make the difficult topic not seem so dificult. and again, if you can get through those hard topics, the easy ones will be a breeze! try and change up your studying, i use a variety of resources and meediums to learn. i can't sit still for too long with one. i use the audios, then the notes, sometimes together. then i take my white board and write down everything i just learnt without looking at any texts. eventually i get someone to quiz me, so there is an audio component. you can even use your first aid book to summarize the topic, even do questoins at the back of the chapter in kaplan to see if you got it. it seems long and boring. but if you can almost baby yourself through the impossible stuff it gets better. and if you give yourself a schedule now, its easier to fit everything in , and be prepared for the worst. when you write down all the subjects you need to learn, which organs you need to cover, you will realize you can't just be procastinating. i make a really tough schedule. unrealisitc. say you have to finish every anatomy video in 3 days. that way if you finish in 5 days, you will still feel guilty that you delayed your entire schedule, cuz the next thing is now postponed, and the one after that is postponed. but you got through the videos alot faster, then if you had given yourself a lenient schedule of 3 weeks. i hope that makes sense. i posted a topic on this forum about "a study schedule" hopefully that can help you. also there is a speed setting n windows media player, i use it on medium/fast, and it flys through in no time

again i mean the time frames on the hard topics , if those are the topics you really think you want to avoid, or just skip til the end. i have done that a millino times, and at the end i have somany things left to do that i had neglected. so if you feel like giving up on some lecture or note, tell yourself you have to learn 5 points at the end of the hour, no matter what, atleast. alot of the time, tis just controlling our mind and our want to avoid the task. you have to settle your brain down and force it to do something. if you give it a simple task, it doesn't protest and feels like its doing a little to get its wa. but really you become intrigued to continue to learn. and you, yoursel frealize you can do it. and your brain simply has to shtup and work with you!
