Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and hoping to gain a lot from it. I am an old IMG and just took ck in feb-failed it...72! I was planning to take CS in 2 weeks but rescheduled when I saw my ck result. I am not about to throw a pity party coz that won't help. I am bothered though for obvious reasons but feel I need to see where I went wrong and do better, plan better and just study hard! I was even thinking abt a career change but...to what?! I feel strongly that I should try again and see how it goes. My step 1 was terrible: 75! It's not a lack of faith but I don't see which program will be interested in giving me a chance right now. At the same time, I do not want to give up/quit. Please, if anyone out there has ANY advice for me, please help. I am not too discouraged to listen or try again...I am ready to start right away. I feel that allowing myself to feel the pain/get depressed will take too much out of me right now, and time is not my friend in this case. Thank you all.

Good attitude!! That's right. Start again and nail it! with hard work, high motivation and prayers you will get the marks that you want. No time to waste. You can start your journal too if you want. Good luck!

I'm sorry about your score. Try your BEST in your second attempt. You should hink thoroughly the reasons for your poor performance before setting up a rigorous study schedule. I think re-covering the subjects matter the second time and do lots of practice questions is a good approach. Good luck!

You have to go all the way or you will always be haunted by the thought of " what could have been......" I'm not a recent grad either. I got really average scores 186/75 in both Step 1 and Step 2 CK but I'm still going for CS and really hoping to match in 2009. If its not meant to be then it won't be but I'd rather find out for myself now than sit and wonder for the rest of my life. This is what I would do....... 1) Take a short break (2-3 days or more). Do not think about the Steps as hard as it may be. 2) Focus on your weak areas. 3) Do as many MCQs as you can. 4) Crush the boards and kaplan videos really helped me. 5) Do not wait too long before scheduling your CK again. You already got a 72. You just need to do a little bit better to pass. Goodluck

Hi, You have good attitude. Please prepare well for the CK again. Try to get max score. If you have a PG degree in your home country and with research experience, you wil get good chance. Best ok Luck Sandeep

Thank you all so much (anuba, yendor, veroni14, Drtweetie, cartman and focusedvision) for your encouraging replies. I will certainly take to your advice and work harder , trying to see the reason also for the poor performance. I have decided to start again by reading the books (starting IM today). I used kaplan notes and videos- 2005/2006, FA, Kaplan Qbank and UW.

An optimistic attitude is a good fundation. You had a very nice study materials. This time, pin hard on the common stuff and understand them inside out. Work on the questions everyday even when you are reading. GL for the second attempt.
