Hey thanks for your post regarding immunizations. But the form that has been sent to me, they are asking for titers for everything? what do you think? I think Prim care physician will take care of that? do you have any idea how much that will cost. I went to quest lab today and they are asking close to 700 us dollars.

Hi, my program did not mention anything like that but they did invite me for a physical late may-early june. Don't you think the program should get this thing done on their expense? Or maybe only those program pay for this which provide med insurance free of cost to their interns/residents. I dont know. In any case, I hope you have your health insurance, you go to your pvt physician PCP and he will take care of all that. Goodluck

Hi Lost, U r right,it does take about 600-700 $ for titres...in fact if u ask a pcp they will advice you to get the injections instead of doing titres...insurance also gives a hard time about them. Its is good that U get it done from India..will not be cheap even there but ..no way like in $$$. GL.

lost_in_usa: I am agree with you but if you don't have a health insurance you can get one for 1 month and then after your immunizations you can discontinue if you want to..I think that would be cheaper.anyway..wish you good luck and you matched in the residency that itself very good...lot of docs are sitting and waiting out there.......good luck in the residency

Hi! I also need immunization record or titres. I had these done from my country before coming to US. Do the primary care doctors here accept the labs from other countries? Can I get the form signed from a PCP here by showing him my lab results from my country? I really appreciate ur inputs!

BEWARE of insurance companies. Most will not cover routine screening for job. I did a PPD and a chest x ray and they told me it was not covered. be careful before you commit yourself. even if you get insurance call them before going to the doctor and find out if they will cover or not. most will not
