hye folks
step 2 CK ,its doable if u r wise enough and know how to mange time and dont get trapped by lenghty questions,and able to stick ur eyes without blinking to computer screen and racing ur mind horses @100 mph and same time escaping the ditches 
so move ur butts ,dont relax and dont be happy after reading from somewhere that this exam easy,NO NO A BIIIIIG NO,dont realx and underestimate,u should know all diffrential diagnosis without any doubt specially the top most 3 differential diagnosis
FOR ur big comfort ,there are no buzz words,every line is big blasting one ,Making u crazy and pullng your hair ,u cant read all as u run out of time,but HELLO u cant skip reading either as there is just eingle word hidden in question which is path to HEAVEN otherwise u are like wandering soul,so solution u should memorize all normal labs atleast imp so u dont have to open lab and save ur precious seconds and second when reading question start gripping each line and situation ,as no time to go back and read again,as questions are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo long,less time left to think about answer,i in step 1 left with some spare time ,but in step 2 i was like a crazy horse just rushing ,even left a couple questions blank  ,and yes time was over,,,,,,,hmm dont mark questions much, trust your first instict ,dont ponder much and dig much,mark a choice and move on
IM ,pathophysiology ,not that bad,psychiatry still ok ,biostat not that killing
but u wont believe SURGERY and GYN OBS,killed me heartlessly ,dont undrestimate them,treatment were not that welcomed but again differential diagnosis and managemnt very important
PAEDS still i dont have idea about few question what on earth made me so crazy,it should nt be that tough ,but clinical scenario given were not classical good picture ,so u need to think hard what they asking ,again my folks, buzz were not there and i was desperately loooking fo them,,,,,,,,,,,,no buzz word.... a whole patient in front of you ,draining energy
do UW,do every heavenly question,make notes,but did u NOTICE yeah !u forgetting ur basic notes or source,so plz go back to them too,they need ur attention,rather u nee their attention to save u in exam ,most of time,so dont forget to revise ur board n ward,kaplan ,first aid or watever u reading,let zebra eat heavenly grasses and grab ur horses as u need them to run thru exam race track.......................
hmm at end close ur eyes,think of a worried deppressed face and pray whole heartidly for me,as em having flash backs of all stupid mistakes i did

Agree with Ruman, CK is no joke, its NOT a piece of cake!!! There aren't any buzz words and yes sometimes when I read the stem and thought they are going to ask diagnosis the next line mentioned it, they were asking second step in management not even the first!! so you can't escape you gotta read the whole damn question. Yes, it may help if you read the answers first, but again I forgot it as when I clicked the next button I reflexly used to start from the begining. Yes, remember basic imp labs it helps. Its all about Trauma surgical or orthopedic, Psych and loads of G/Obs. UW is good and I think this time questions were mostly the same strength not like in step 1 when I felt that they were relatively easier than UW and harder than NBME but this time they were no where near NBME. Much like UW, so folks UW UW UW!!! I am having post exam blues too and I need your prayers!!!

hmmm well all depend , u can either do with first read while adding notes at same time or better finish first read so u do get idea where to add what and what to stres upon while reading ,just give 1st read ,have bit idea then do uw systemwise forexample and then reread that chapter or system again before moving on to next ,instead of piling up for later, do bit now u would get better clearer concept and more interesting,coz sometime reading kaplan notes is a fatigue and sleepy uninterested story book

hmmmmm CONGRATS jazam,nice score ,dont compare scores and step 2 is total solid separate exam,so even 99 in step1 not guarantee to get 99 in step 2 either,at same time atep1 88 can be basis for 98 n step 2,so keep it up
FEYZA mission accomplished,i cant see you people hovering around in forum and dropping posts  ,YEAH get some fresh air and sometime horrid glimpse from forum and move back to caves,as the last days of prep are the worth most,
DO"s and DONTS of exam
i wont say do and dont of prep ,coz every 1 tries to prepare best ,but thing is how u put ur effort in exam
so DO'S and donts
1: read whole question ,but focus on basic question line,e.g, what is INITIAL test,what is BEST NEXT STEP,w hat is most specific test,whih drug causing problem
2:try to understand all normal labs just by a look,so u dont need to go to lab table given,u can save lots precious time
3.answer what examiner or question asking u,its written obvious ,dont suppose urself,if question saying initial it means initial test ,dont try to mark gold standard test
4:try to make ur own diagnosis before scrolling whole big list,trust me it will really help u,think first then look at list given
5:sometime media clips if u understand qusetuion stem ,u can do it without listening to it,but stil better to have ur skills to identify ,but again question stem there to help u out
6:dont mark much questions
7:if not clear about any question answer,go with ur first instinst,its almost right
8:build up stamina to keep focused to screen and sitting for 8 hrs,coz in last blocks this is real exam
9:if there are buzz words ,u can skip all irrelevant details,for example pt with fused vertebrae and back pain,yup its ANKYLOSING spondylitis,move ahead and mark
but if no buzz word dont start searching ,but look at pt as whole ,e,g, infant with vomiting and ,they dont give u any double bubble sign ,or olive mass or telescoping of intestine ,u need to findout urself by timing of vomiting,bilious or non bilious associated features ,so in short when preparing the DIFFERENTIAL diagnosis ,try to emphasize on all points not just buzz words
10:few questions are like this is a b c problem,whats diagnosis,
this is diagnosis,what is initial treatment,
but few are this is treatment which not working ,now what would be long term complication of disease
and few questions are,, this is treatment given initially ,now what other ttreatment option i.e, best or last resort treatment or last disease modifying treatment
so dont finish ur study or topic ,by diagnosing but also complication and best specific treatment,its not true for all diseases but just do very imp disease e,g,u gave NSAIDS to RA ,but pt have erosions ,so give DMARD now,
10;DERMA pictures and cts ,do them good,i got quite reasonable questions with them
11:obs and gynae do graphs given in kaplan,stages of labour should be on ur finger tips and how to manage delay or arrest in which stage ,preconception counselling what to be offered at 1st term to a young ,to a high risk pt,to pt with already having a kid with a disease,to a late thirt lady,best COntraceptive method for different age groups
12:surger ,wow develop the nerves to manage any patient with any thing,but u should know priority ,u want to save pt limb or pt life,u want to give fluids or do surgery,be clear,what to do next
13:IM pretty fair if u prepare step 1 good and read step 2 books better,so dont stick to ur step 1 exam score and prep,better improve and extend the knowledge,then u deserve 99
14:do the comon thing and favourite daily life topics first then do rare things more,
15,last 2 weeks imp try to utilize them as much,as i got relaxed and faced the trouble,but berealax atleast 2 days before and have good sleep,as i faced consequences of broken disturbed sleep
16,take some energy drink with u,u need them bad in step 2,i forgot at home in hurry and yup sleepy mind last two blocks,u CANT AFFORD IT
17/;trust urself and GOD ,ALLAH is there ,HE wont let our efforts wasted away,so pray beore starting exam,ask ur parents to pray for u,prayers have chrismatic effect and ofcourse forum folks wishes and support ,A MEGA trick

thanks ruman ! it was pleasure going thru your last post. UW asks many questions which are out of the world or so as to say not in kaplan. is the real exam also like this.
also what do you think about nbme. i plan to do all 3 but cant decide in which order. can you suggest something for that aswell
