If some body knows why in patients whose skin test positive to methylparaben: P -aminobenzoic acid ester sunscreen is contraindicated, Please explain.

Thanks a Lot!

If skin reacts to methylparaben, sunscreen would be contraindicated since this is an active ingredient.

But all of the options are sunscreens including: avobenzone, benzophenone, cinnamates, and salicylates . As far as I know, the first three are sunscreens too.

I don't know the question you're referring to, but all of these I think are also ingredients that can be used in sunscreen and not the actual sunscreen and if this person is reacting to methylparaben (which is also an ingredient) it may be why sunscreen would be contraindicated. From what I understand, the patient didn't react to any of the other ingredients. right?
