Hi I have matched at H1b sponsoring program and they want me to join on 2nd June so that I can observe the way US functions as I did not have any USCE. Rest of my batchmates will join on 16th June (thats when the orientation will begin)

I plan to take on a fellowship hopefully as soon as i finish my residency. And because H1 visa lasts exactly 6 years; Wont there be a problem if I get visa issued for early June ?

Or is it that the consul will refuse to issue me visa before a particular date

And in case i get my H1 visa beginning last week of June...is it possible for me to enter the US before to do an observership ? Will the immigration officer allow me in earlier because the program wants me there ?

I have heard of all these possibilites from diffrent people and am totally confused as to who I should consult. Even more so because my program is not very good at dealing with visa issues as they dont sponsor them too often.

Any word from those who have been through this will be helpful. Thank you

Wow...cnmc was one of my top choices...its a great prog, and they rarely take fmgs so u must feel really good...congratssmiling facevery happy for u

i dont know much about h1 but from what i know...if u take it early june it should be fine coz u can always get an extension after 6 yrs of 1 extra yr

in fact staying on in US after h1 visa expires is fine as long as u dont leave the country...and most ppl do just that...after residency they get into a job that will sponser thier GC and while the paper work gets done they just stay in US...well friends who are in research have done that but i dont know how much it works for docs...let us know if u find some dependable ans

Congrats again!
