What is the formula to calculate:
# of people to be treated to prevent one case (say of osteoporosis)?
Please also mention the name of book that has this formula for reference.
Thanks everyone.

NNT (Number Needed to Treat) = 100/Absolute risk reduction

Absolute Risk Reduction = Relative Risk exposed group - relative risk unexposed group

NNT is the inverse of absolute risk reduction, i.e. number needed to treat 1 patient for a given ARR. the formula is

NNT=1/ARR

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your reply.
I was reading Step 2 Epidemiology, and it says there that:
NNT=1/incidence rate
Await your comments.
Thanks
