Primi 17 yo mother with 4 days baby complains of her baby does not get enough milk and her nipple are sore. o/e healthy vigorous neonte with strong sucking reflex he has wet diaper weight at birth 3317 also he has jaundice in his face in order to support this new mother in her breast feeding you recommend:
a) Feed the neonate only on one breast at each feeding to encure emptying of the breast
b) Insert as much of the areola as possible into the mouth to improve latching
c) No feed the neonate more than every 3 hrs to allow for milk to produce
d) Offer formula after each feeding to ensure that neonate is getting enough milk
e) Switch to formula for 5 days to assist with healing of her nipple
