Hi rafik, this process is not easy for anyone, and not impossible either and like I said in another post, it's important to trace your goals and be realistic with your own situation. I've heard many histories about FMG docs who got residency in they 50's, most principal in pediatrics and family medicine, is difficult but not impossible. Try to reach the better score that you can, and obviously try to search for friendly hospitals, mainly the community ones, look in its web pages if they accepted old foreign doctors before for example and so on. Good luck to u

you are ancouragement for me also, although i am 34 but still some people say they consider themselves old doctors... i've been procrastinating for an incredibly long time (and now I am doing that also) of 3 years... lost too much time and looks like i am not going to be able to catch match 2009. but, like you said - gotta set objectives and stick to them. So I am with you my old friend. God help us both.

Hi rafik, You are able to do anything yo want! Maybe is not the ideal movie but ,please watch "Something the Lord made"and there is a small book "Please be happy" A. Mathew. It sounds silly title but believe me is excellent for us. Start doing what you need to do, I know it is not easy but IS POSSIBLE!!!

hello rafik, how are you? my answer is two-fold. 1. I think you can do anything you want. you are obiviously very intelligent to be a doctor and practicing, as well as compassionate for doing it for so long. some people get rich and retire fast. do not feel that your age should affect your ability, it should heighten your wisdom if anything. 2. i am assuming, that perhaps you think that it might affect if you get placement, about your age. well i think, your scores will speak for themselves. as well as your experience. you vs a 28 year old. sure they are younger, but what experience do they hold over you being a physician already?! that is my opinion. but i know alot of placements do bias and prejudge. i would personally, call up a fwe boards such as ecfmg, some residency placements and ask them, if your age would be an issue? in general. do some research into this. if its a no brainer and it would be an issue, maybe you should still try but atleast you know what you were getting into. if theres rules somewhere, where it is completely okay, then it will help your confidence, and you can see if the placements are sticking to the rules. i hope i helped. someone that lives to help otheres, ail them, should NEVER feel like he is in the wrong place at the wrong time. we are always going to be somewhere where we are valued and needed, no city has truly cured its citizens.

rafik, please also do First aid. it is kind of confusing at the beginning, but refer your kaplan notes to first aid along your studying session. the first aid will be easier to read later. they say read it thoroughly twice, know it well, and you are well on your way.
