sure take it. And then do an odd job when you are not working

may be this position will get paid or may be you will have some contacts Don't loose this chance.

you have to carefully weigh in the risks and benefits involved....

J1 research with the intent of a propective residency is not an easy path....but in your case since you have already tried match twice, you may take it if you see some potential for it get paid, that way you may be able to secure a good experience, however keep in mind, that if it does not get paid and you are forced to leave it, then you wont be able to even stay in USA and then that stupid 2 yr home return req. unless your country is waived....

i had a similar opportunity at john hopkins, but i denied that mainly since i am a fresh graduate, and for me there was no escaping from 2 yr home return requirement.

but in your case i would advice you to take that position if you think its good enough, and keep an eye on other paid positions even at different institutions, and give up your life on what ever you are working upon....and find your way up
