I guess if you mutually signed the contract, they cannot retract it... Call AAMC or check with lawyers...

thanks for the quick reply. I am going there on monday.. what should I say. should I tell them that I will speak to my lawyers. I talked to him on the phone and basically he said I cant do anything and wouldnt give me the program directors number (hes admin coordinator). ..so I sort of gave up...but now am really pissed off and they have to honor it. I'm not sure what to say to them that will make them honor it....i dont think threatening them will do anything sorry for the double post...browser was slow

ah man.. that is REALLY difficult... go on frieda and try to look up the program directors name and number, if that doesn't work, go on www.usmleforum.com and ask anyone on there if they are in the program and ask for the PD's number -- residents will have it and that forum is pretty nice... KEEP IN MIND THOUGH -- even though they offered it to you and now are backing away from it, do you really want to go there in the end??? I mean, say they give it to you because you are pissed off and threatening to get a lawyer, they will most likely be mean to you... Did they apologize? What went wrong? I believe NRMP has nothing to do with the scramble, so they most likely can't help you... that really sucks. again, try contacting the PD and NOT the coordinator... Good Luck, keep us posted!

NO, NO, do not even mention that you will talk to lawyers... Scramble is a good-will business, and you cannot force anyone beyond this good will!!! I said you should consult on this matter, but not even pretend you want to intimidate them!!! You will close your door to many other programs!!! Be polite and softly gentle!!!

They know my situation and said sorry. they admin coordinator called and explained that he cant give me the position. i was polite but in the end he said there isnt anything we can do...the commitee decided. i told them this is wrong and unethical....besides that what else can i do. i was going to drive down and talk to the pd myself....but im sure he know my position since i emailed him everything. shoudl i drive down? if so what do i say that they dont already know.... i figure at least they can tell me in person and maybe i can talk to the pd. it really sucks because im losing a prelim year- med and a pgy2 year. thanks for all your support

if they firmly said no and aplogized, then maybe you should accept it and just move on.. there really is nothing else you can do at this point. going there isn't going to do anything I think if they already told you no.

Well, you story man adds to the scramble-the-nightmare collection... It's Saturday today, and you can't do anything till Monday. Do not go there, it will just aggravate them... First try to call AAMC to check out your/their responsibilities... Then write a letter, the official letter, and ask for detailed explanation of their position... If they said NO over a phone, you should operate at a higher level... I am so sorry for you, man... So much sorry...

thanks... i hope BBB can answer who are the higher authorities....besides the program director. ACGME? ECFMG? the strange thing is that when they called i felt like they wanted to see my reaction. they waited for me to end the conversation....to see what i would do its really stressful because my family and friends know i had a spot (still didnt tell them) and we celebrated- now im just confused and upset at why a university program would do this

i really feel for you, especially the family part... applicants have an obligation to programs during the match and scramble and I would hope that programs would reciprocate that relationship as well. this is really upsetting.
