Hi,
Congrats to all of those who matched.
I'm soo disappointed by the Match and scramble, don't know what to do nowsad
I'm soo depressed. I am 2004 IMG, green card holder, passed Step 1 76 (first attempt) step 2 78 ( second step) CS passed first attempt.
i have 6 months USCE and 1 US LOR along with 6 from my own country. I had applied to 30 FM programs, 30 psychiatry, 10 pathology,20 IM ,30 Peds programs in total 120 programs. got just 2 IV (can u believe it) i from baylor houston in Pathology and the other from UT houston in psychiatry. I DID NOT MATCH and I failed to scramble sad( i feel like i should commit suicide. I don't know what to do next. I cannot go thru the painful match experience again. PLZ guys give me some good solid advice besides trying again for next year match which i'm not sure i would like to do it again since it was my second time in the match sad I have already wasted alot of $$$$$ on this since the last two years. help me anyone plzzzzzz.

Do step3 before september next year with a score better than 85. Apply wisely , probably baylor and ut houston are not the places you are looking for. apply to lesser specialities. 120 applications in FM and IM are better than what you did although it costs more.

agree with mr.king

try to apply in less sought after programs....and then again after passing step3

good luck

Mahwish,

this is my advice: take step 3, try to get observership/externship where you work your arse off to get great LORs and then apply on 1 sep 08, but dont apply to so many specialities. apply just to one speciality, put all your effort in that speciality, write an excellent PS and send it to 80-100 places all over the US which are applicable to you.

good luck

Hi Mahwish,

Sorry to disappoint you! But honestly to say that I am not a good exam taker either! I have also borderline USMLE scores. I am also ECFMG certified.
I applied twice for US match, last year and this year and also for Canadian match this year and got not matched! I had LOR from Canada and Europe in my CV and got zero interview from nearly 90 programs that I applied for the US and 30 for Canada!
So, you see! I failed 2 US matches, 2 US scrambles and one Canadian 1st iteration match and one Canadian 2nd iteration match!!
I am unluckier than you! I wasted more money than yours!
I am much more depressed than you!
Sorry to disappoint you but no chance for us I think!
I gave up today!!

I think you should be very disapointed... but CALM DOWN.... I don't think you should give up. just use your resources in a more targeted way.
Maybe you want to look for USCE and also you may want to get a position in research .... reconsider your specialty. and try to make more contacts.

It is hard. I didn't match either, I am also disapointed, but when there is a will there is a way!
I hope you feel a little better, I am praying for all of us unmatched souls
