  #8

guys quick question for a j1, the procedure is.....

get a contract, send a copy to home country office for a no objection certificate

send a copy to ecfmg with the online form and the original back to the matched college.

get the ds 109 number... which is released to the hospital of match

apply for a visa witht e ds 109 number. Now how do i come to know bout the number

  #9

oops i mean ds 2019

  #10

any idea how long does the whole J1 process take?

  #11

also is there anywhere i can read about the whole J1 process? i'm clueless...

  #12

Hi guys, I have received an e-mail from my program saying they're sending some documents, I haven't received them yet.

The processing of DS 2019 takes 4 to 6 weeks.

Any idea about the CV...Is it the same CV from ERAS or a different one?

  #19

so has any one of you received the contracts to get the visa process started

  #20

Well manisha, I had already matched to an advanced anesthesia position.. So I guess there are a couple of places who are holding designated preliminary positons for cases such as mine.
There are about three programs in findaresident that are offering designated preliminary surgery positions...

So does anybody know anything about the Union Memorial Hospital?

  #23

I guess it will be different for different programs, but has anyone received a contract or appointment letter

  #24

I haven't received mine, but I called them today and they said I should have received the contract by Friday.

I know about one guy who received his contract last Friday.

  #25

most programs have sth like 2 wks orientation which starts around June 10-15. Most of the programs begin officially on July 1. Some begin on June 20. That's all I know for now about starting dates.
