I will be attending medical school in Africa next year. There has been much talk on Student doctor network and Valuemd.com about California's approved/disapproved medical schools. Currently, I've told that one cannot become licensed or do residency in the state of California if one's medical school is not listed as an approved medical school.
Since my medical is a new medical school (opened in 1999), they are in the process of applying for approval in California. Not that it matters to me since I'm heading back to the east coast and may do my clinical and residencies in South Africa, become licensed in south africa, and then come back to the US to do a fellowship in Internal Medicine. However, I have spent considerable amount of time defending my school on those websites and I'm tired.
Since those boards are for US medical students and Caribbean Medical students, I have come here in hopes that I will find people who are FMG's who graduated from medicals in other countries and have come back to the US. If you know anything about this new law, can you please share with this message board your experience?
