wat is the ideal preparation time required to completely prepare for the CS... can we do it by ourselves practicing it with our husband (this scares too) or is it better to take a kaplan course.....pls help me

First Aid, listen to kaplan DVDs if you have them, practice with whoever accepts it, but try and have at least one doctor practicing with you on the Internet, for example, they are the best judges. Read csprotocol blog from beginning to end.

artele gives a very good suggestion. But if you could not find a suitable partner to practice, practice with yourself will do the trick too. In that way, I would suggest you read through FA for two times, practice all the FA cases two to three times. When you practice FA cases, put something there(teddy bear or a doll would do) as a pretended SP. Read all the informations of that case first, then start from knocking the door, introducing yourself, history taking, physical exam to consulting. Practice in a timed-manner. After that, write your own notes in 10 minutes. Then go back to FA, compare and find out what you have missed, and what is the difference of your PN with the PN in FA. That way, if you can practice two to three times, I guess you will feel comfortable with any cases.

Best of luck!
