Our universities donīt pay attention to that kind of things when they evaluate us. HELP PLEASE!! Rafael - I don't know about your school, but Cayetano will give applicants a "Medical Student Performance Evaluation" which is from the deans office and comes through ERAS as a deans letter. Good luck!

Thanks for the info bbb!! (Iīve noticed your omnipresent in this forum...what are you?? some kind of a USMLE angel??!! where are you from?). Unfortunately my school (Universidad Nacional de Trujillo) doesnīt give a document like MSPE...I guess Iīll have to ask my Dean to make one especially for me (I suspected Cayetano issued MSPEs but didnīt know for sure...Iīll try to contact someone there). Tell me something: Does it really make a difference to present a Deanīs Letter? (I suppose so, but have you heard of someone who didnīt have one and still got a residency position?). Iīm interested in a pediatrics residency. I guess you are an internist for what Iīve read here, but can you tell me how hard is it to enter a Pediatrics residency??. Do I necessarily have to do an externship?. Sorry for so many questions but we IMGs risk so much by applying that fear and doubts become an everyday problem . Thanks again, Rafo

Hi everbody! I'm Eduardo Yépez, I study at the Trujillo National University. I am from the prom XXXVIII. I took the USMLE step 1 last may and I did not see a dean's letter requirement in the ECFMG information booklet. Please tell me if this letter can be sent after I recieve my medical diploma. Thanks a lot.....

Hey Eduardo! You will only need the Deanīs Letter later when you register with ERAS for the Match, so donīt worry too much about it now 8) , you still have to get your Diploma and the ECFMG Certificate and thatīs a long way to go. I guess you must be in your 6th year now right?. I recall someone (I guess Junior) told me about you once but I donīt have your face in my memory. Well, my name is Rafael Li and Iīm Prom XXXIV. I took Step 1 in April this year and I got 88, not bad but Iīm aiming at a high nineties score for Step 2. Iīm going for Pediatrics, what about you?. How did you do in Step 1?. If you want you can send me private messages on the forum or write emails to me (the address is online too). Stay in touch, Rafo :P

Hi Rafo Suppose I did well at the step 1, I did the OASIS trick and says I passed!. Unfortunately I have not recieved my score reporting yet because the med school did not reply ECFMG's request to verify my medical student status which they recieved last march. Now this problem is solved, and I know they sent me my score last july 24, so I'm waiting for it. I want to be a cardiologist, and I know I have to finish a residency on internal medicine first so I'm going on IM. Junior is a friend of mine, we are in the same prom but I'm in the last group, studying with Ruth Zegarra, Tito Yep and others. I was happy to realize there was this page, I think it gives important information. I would be glad to keep in touch with you so we can share the information we have. Bye
