hi guys, what do you think are my realistic chances for a radiology match? step1 97/240 (2ck and cs not taken yet but lets assume i'll manage to keep it in the 90ies for ck). excellent undergrad performance (among best 10% in my medschool (top medschool in germany, will get LORs from dean and head of radio blabla) fellow of 2 scholarship programs and several research awards (in molecular neurobiology NOT radio) radio experience: rotations in a major german research/clinical center and in mount sinai NY -> will get LORs other rotations: mount sinai neurosurgery and a top hospital in paris/neurology. will graduate with MD/PhD first-author publication in Brain (neuro NOT radio) community activities (president of a student organization etc) BUT: NO GC, would want H1B visa will be fresh graduate no research in radiology (except a few weeks at mount sinai which were interesting but too short to lead to a paper) i'm really trying my best but there are people who tell me there's nothing i can do unless i would except something else than radio. is it totally naive (or lets face it and say "stupid") to expect to match into one of the big NY programs in my case? how about any program at all? thanks and good luck to you all J

don't listen to anyone... go for it if this is what you want, but prepare yourself for a "big fight"..... As is was said before, impossible is nothing.... And there were not filled spots in radiology this year, so..... The question is, how strong your will is, and how much you are willing to sacrifice in order to have your dream.... Good luck

..agree, go for it!!! you wont find out until you try..at least you wont go on with your life wondering if you could have made it...just do your research, be strong, its like preparing yourself for a battle...

Very good credentials...but keep ur scores high otherwise u might get filtered out. If u can compromise for community programs in radiology u should be able to get in. I matched into radiology , yes with research in fields other than radio...this year . Your credentials are commendable. U stand a good chance and contacts help a lot!

You seemed to have planned this out quite well. Continue to execute those plans. [Those who do not match where they want are the ones who suddenly realize 'oh, this is what I want to do.'] Maintain the contacts you have made so far, cultivate new ones. In the time from now till when you plan to match, try for some Radiology related things to put on your CV. I believe you can! Do you?

If you don't try, you won't get into radiology for sure. If you try, try very hard and intelligently. There is hope in everything if you work your part diligently. GL.
