I found out this morning that I DID NOT MATCH in FM. I did not have the gut to tell my parents and friend yet until just now, what a big relief. I was devastated and sad at the same time. The hardest part for me is NOT unmatch but to tell my own parents. I just feels very sorry for them after spending so much $$$ for me. After a long speech with them. I have decided to QUIT MEDICINE for now and pursuing Pharmacy career instead.

Good luck everyone.

sad

I'M VERY SORRY TO HEAR THAT...MAY gOD BLESS YOU & GIVE YOU COURAGE.

ALAS, AMERICA LOSES YET ANOTHER HARDWORKING & GOOD DR!!!disapproval

unless you really are relieved and don't want medicine, I would advise you to try the scramble... two days of frustration and busy phonelines could garner you a position... try it!
after countless years attaining your med degree and time studying for the USMLE exams - you could give it two more days!!!

hello Intern doc im so sorry to know ur story. All I would say is that plz plz dont loose hope...I know its hard for you right now to understand what others are saying...but believe me...our parents are very patient...they will get more hurt if they see us change our field.

i had lost all hope as I had failed step3 and had no USCE either...i had 10 Ivs and of them 5 were IM and 2FP and rest pedia which I cancelewd did not even go as I had decided i could take FP or Im not pedia...then while preparing my ROL i decided not to rank FP programs as I had decided either im going for Im or NOT going...since I had failed step3 I knew I might have to opt J1 if i dont pass step3 in near future...could afford to be on IM residency on J1 but not FP on J1..so only ranked the 5 Im programs...

and I happened to match...people say I ahve lot of guts...after failing Im trying to be choosy on speciality...but I did what I felt and was prepared for everything.

I was well prepared for remaining unmatched and was 90% sure of it..only 10% had feelling that may match...I matched...so i think even 10% hope works...Hope should be there.

GL!!

If you really do not like and do not want to be a phsician, so be it.

But if you are just feeling bad and a little depressed you owt to try again and again, you are so close now you can't afford stepping down.

Good luck to you, be it pharmacy or medicine. smiling face

Hi, Your position cannot be easy in any way right now. But, I hope you don't make any impulsive decision which will impact your life in every possible way, for the rest of your life. Think hard, unfortunately you don't have too much time if you should decide to Scramble after all. I wish you the very best either way. Be strong.

Hey, don't give up. I did not match either last year and I succeeded with a prematch this year. Heads up!!! Try to find even observerships even if you have to pay for it. That's what I did. Also take Step 3 if you haven't yet.

Hey dude,

I feel your pain, so bad... however I picked myself up and kept going with the Scramble even though it looks like I will have no spot... Just remember not to make a temporary emotional decision that has permanent real consequences! Take a week off if need be, relax and talk to your family. They are more supportive than you would think...

Believe it or not. I did that. It seems philosophical but that is the fact. 3rd try,1IV,Matched. So you can do it too.

raised eyebrow Pharmacy here is even harder than to get into Med school position seat wise & entrance marks , & tuition expenses .. in North America .
Also it is still Medicine & to b v. compititive after graduation, have to work as both bussiness man & students way to get more educational upgrad like PhD & etc courses , several times a yr of travellling to get continuing education courses too with alot of medicine plus compounding to do, also pharmacist now adays have to work really hard to compete with big super store drug stores , so unless u raelly like it , it will b really harden on u .
But why pharmacist ... ?? for money wise ??? , then go for non medicine .. MBA or accounting or just simply PA is shortest fastest , since u still have medicine in heart cause u choose pharmacy when u said u will quit medicine .
So many things to do in USA , so take a 2 wk or a month break then find ur heart is still at medicine or totally non med, if still med try ur best ... find research .. basic or clinical or med assistant or med lab tech or etc [ may not need schooling etc ] .

Also can get MPH , etc as graduate study or fellowship in north or as GP in Australia , etc where recruiting IMG , but also like to have person with ECFMG certified or plab etc .

Wish u all the best in finding ur passionate career path .
Do not decide any till u r calm & see the world clearly with open mind .

You have done alot already , been come through long way , so only few inch away u will b at ur dream MD soooner or later if u really want , but IF u really do not like the field , do leave it with no regret, no look back but make sure u choose ur next one only by ur own decision that u really enjoy , will love to do for ur whole life .
