what is he next step in management of an asymptomatic adult with ASD murmur found on physical exam?

1. do nothing

2. order echo

order echo. You have to CONFIRM it first!

You do an Echo ,confirm it and then fix it.You can do this with a catheter.And,unless it is an isloated asd secondium , patient should be advised about Antibiotic prophylaxis against Infective Endocarditis in cases where there will be risk of bacteremia.

Are you sure ASD requires Antibiotic prophylaxis for SBE ?

only ostium primum asd needs prophylaxia (rare)..most common cases r ostium secundum asd needing no prophylaxis..
