Hi everybody, I took the exam on 22 and 23 Feb in CT ..I am just waiting for the result... It is my second attemp...the first one I took during IV time and I think I did not give enough time for it....so..here I am again.... Dont know about my chances in second time...but I studied harder than before... It is very difficult to know about certainly because there are too many weird Q. I am just want to know how many of you have taken in second attempt....and what do you know about rate pass.... I am IMG...applying for match just know....and I just want to have the step3 passed... Any commentary will be very welcomed!!! Cheers,

hey I have my exam in 4 days. My first attempt was in Jan. I took th eexam in the middle of my ivs also, and unfortunately didn't clear it. I read on usmle.org that pass rate in second attempt for an IMG is 56%, for an AMG is 76%... I'm so scared myself. Can you tell me how were CCS and did they end before time in your caase?

Hello, Thanks vanshita...I really hope good news next week.... My CCS cases all from UW... In my first attemp...I finished very fast....but know it took me more time..7 of 10 finished after 20 minutes,..and the other 3 in around 15 minutes.... My problem was in the MCQ ...because there were "many" I think with 2 options.....so..I selected what I think was more "logical"... So, the rate pass is quite similar as in first attemp for IMG.... Just finger cross

Hi gatita , I can fully understand your situation as i am sailing in the same boat right now ... I took my exam on 29feb,1st march ..still awaiting results ..this is my 2nd attempt too, failed by margin in first attempt.. my ccs went on well ,all cases ended before 10 minutes ..yeah,you are right they were mostly from UW ..pyelonephritis,lung nodule with siadh ,intestinal obstruction, narcotic overdose ,pretty much straight forward but remember ccs is only 25 % of the exam , its the mcqs which is the main chunk ..questions were weird and long and frustrating but from what i have read if you score a decent 30-35% in questions and fairly well in ccs ,you should be okay.. seriously guys ,try to get over with this stupid exam before residency cauz trust me , you wont get any time to prepare for it later on i really wanted to know how this exam is scored but seems like too complicated to be understood so, just cross your fingers ,pray and have lots of fun ..enjoy yourself

Thank you very much CocaCola, Vanshita and Robin. Dr_Vandy, I think they come out only on Wednesday.... I know the pain waiting....just keep going... My exam...MCQ were weird....I just marked by instint .. My cases...most finished around 15 min...and around 3 within 10....I saw improvement in only 7 patients...in the others were not change or only little....but with this..I got average score in CCS...I think this bit in CCS saved me...I think...I got 82 score....previous I got 70....and my CCS were underaverage... Just keep waiting my friend....I wish you very good luck

Really..just keep going dr_Vandy JACK...I did not use Kaplan...just USMLE world and NMS Review for USMLE Step 3. I finished UW with 60% and NMS with 58% I reviewed the answers...correct and incorrect... Any doubt I checked my Harrison manual and Washington therapeutics... For my first exam..I mean my first step3...I only did few UW tests..around 6-7..and I got around 54%.... Then in my second..got 60%... Hope this help you Jack,

I'm so scared this time. I dont know whether to start USMLE step123 for 1 week or not.... I have done UW and Kaplan Q bank this time with FA and Crush and some kaplan notes.. Really really scared.

Hi redddd I did practice only with the CD USMLE send us. I practice several times, to know the orders. I read the CCS cases of UW and did all the orders in the CD sofware, to get familiar with writing. I did not use 123step3usmle...because I did not have much time an I read some people were confused after used it..so..I opted not to use. There is a lot of prevention and vaccine questions....so...master it. all the CCS cases were from UW...so...master it as well. Good luck Redddd..I know the pain..believe me.....but just focus and stay calm..believe your instints... Just relax a bit...you will do fine...after a fail...next should be a joy

Hi reddd, You will do great this time, believe me.. DONT PANIC ,whatsoever... If you keep your cool ,read the question carefully and just go with your instinct , you should be more than good..I panicked during the exam and ended up with some wrong choices even in simple and straight forward questions...so ,DONT PANIC AT ALL.. you are in a better position than 75% of other applicants ,you matched already ,so just count your blessing s and go for this one with all your courage ,you are well prepared and you just have to get over this one now... gatita is right , you get a lot of questions from screening - FOBT , colonscopy , influenza vaccine in elderly/nursing home ,i had a photo clip for dermatomyositis and another one with syphilis ulcer - answer was jarisch herxheimer reaction. some ekgs, another one with anorexia nervosa -admit the patient if bmi is less than 14 ..i ll post some more if i remember

I'm glad I have a residency position now, actually 90% of stress is gone by that, all I have to do is to clear this exam.... vandy keep posting if you have some more stuff to recall.

Hi reddd, I sure will .... I had a question about hospice ,like when will you send the patient to hospice and the answer was right now(usually if pt has less than 6 months to live)terminally ill.. another one was about elderly abuse ,send the son out and talk to patient directly about it metabolic alkalosis with hypochloremia in pyloric stenosis role of calcium in hypertension?? i didn t know the answer -weird choices diffr b/w cephalhematoma and hydrocephalus ,i mean one crosses midline and the other does nt and stuff like that ..keep your basic concepts clear and that s why i am telling you not to panic !! few questions about mesenteric ischemia My ccs cases were all straight forward pyelo lung nodule with siadh (Na- 117) sah acute renal failure in hospital setting narcotic overdose I dont recall rest of them but if i remember i ll post em.. GL vandana p.s- another question about sarin(nerve gas) - antidote is atropine and pralidoxime
