Busiest testing time?

I'm trying to take my step 1 in the month of MAY but I heard that may-july is the busiest testing time because US medical students take USMLE exams in those months.Is it fine for me to take exam in May as I'm a foreign medical graduate.
Will I be competing with US medical students?
Please enlighten me as I'm about to apply for May. confused

Your score on the step is all that matters. The competition is the same each day of the year. Whether that be today or some time in may. The only thing that the 'busy schedule' can affect is the timing of your result. You might recieve it a week or two later than usual. Thats all there is to it. smiling face

but I have heard some people recommending strongly against taking exams in those 3 months because they say that most of the US students take their exams in summer and they obviously get great scores and that increases the percentile mean for us.

You compete with the exam not with fello students......Period !!!

The incomplete advice u are talking abt is to inform that if u take exam in such busy periods.... u may not get ur preferred dates at ur preferred center ( only in US ) if u wont block early and that the results may be affected... But these days cos its online score reporting... the latter reason shud also not be a big deal....

I think the question stands, do the AMG they their test in same place= prometic centers , or in their university? If the latter one, I would not worry about someone (AMG ) taking our spot.

Buddy the mean score is the same all year round (218), and so is the standard deviation (23). And by consequence so are the percentiles (although thats a slightly more complex calculation, but serves the purpose here). smiling face
