Hello,

Is California Letter (PTAL) considered a medical license?
I posses a California Letter, but I am strating a residency in a different state than California.

License application in the other state has a so-called State License Verification Form (in case you have a license in a different state).

I am confused if this Cali letter is considered a "training" medical license.

Does anybody know if California letter is considered as some type of a "training" medical license and if a state license verification form is applicable to Cali letter?

I hope this make sense.confused

thanks

No, it is not a license. It is a post graduate training authorization letter. Basically, the "powers that be" are saying they have reviewed your credentials and have found them adequate to begin residency training in California.

You will have to apply for a license after you have completed 2 years of residency (which is what I'm doing right now)
