hi,
im an fmg( MBBS, india). one of the requirements for applying for step3 as mentioned in FSMB website is
Obtain an M.D. degree (or its equivalent) or a D.O. degree (or its equivalent).
can anyone tell me if i would be eligible if im ecfmg certified?

A prerequisite for being ECFMG certified is that you possess a valid medical diploma (i. e. you graduated from medical school accredited by the ECFMG/IMED) and passed USMLE Step 1/2CS/2CK.
Having graduated from you school in india w/ an MBBS is considered equivalent to an MD/DO degree. MD and DO are professional degrees granted by the medical schools in the U.S.
In some countries the "MD" is granted for outstanding research/scientific achievements (being a physician and possessing an MD title are therefore different things; the MD is an academic title, comparable to an PhD).
So yes: with the ECFMG certificate in your hands you can apply for Step 3! :-)
