Thank you so much Rob! I will buy Goljan for sure! His new book is on printing now, so i will get it as soon as it on the market. Also like you said i am gonna get Kap lecture notes and go through them real quick. But should i buy latest edition or little earlier ones OK? What do you think? Are they changed a lot through the years? Thanks again! good luck for you Step 2, Rob!

Congrats on such a wonderful score Some questions if you don't mind. I just took the kaplan diagnostic a couple of days ago and scored a 64%(i thought it would be like 20%as most of the questions were familiar but i could narrow it down to 2-3 and then take an educated guess but most were not easily answerable).I enrolled for live lectures starting July-august and want to take my step1 in early November. I'm really bad with study plans(hate studying)I was wondering if you could help me with a how to.I can't study on weekends as i just got married 8 months ago and want to spend time with my husband. Could you give me a general idea of how you studied and how long ago did you pass?I got out of medschool in june. I'm frustrated becuz i've bought my books a while back(in nov)but have only just started and can't really focus. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm frustrated becuz i've bought my books a while back(in nov)but have only just started and can't really focus. any help would be greatly appreciated. well i had finished my med school and came back to the US in oct 2003. i started my live lectures at the end of october till end of december. my diagnostic test score was 56%. i studied for like 4 1/2 months pretty consistently. during the lectures i studied like 3 hours a day each night. somedays i would just relax. after the lectures had finished i really studied hard for 2 months. woke up around 7 or 8 am and went to the library and studied. for like 8-10 hours a day. slept at 12 at night. in between some time went for eating, tv, etc. weekends i kind of relaxed by doing questions in q-bank. i met up with my study group every friday and we sat together for the whole day discussing 50 questions. well after the lectures u will be able to narrow down your answer choices. i never really studied on weekends anyway except in the last 1 month to the exam. i started only doing the notes and gradually started doing q-bank. i formed a study group in end of november where we met every friday and did 50 questions from the q-book on one subject. that was very very helpful. i highly suggest u do that. then do lots of questions. i think the kaplan books and quaetions r more than enough. also add hi yield anatomy which will be more than enough. look thru pictures in ure pathology robbins when u r bored or get free time. also check out. webpath.com which has pathology pictures. if u r attending the kaplan live lectures u should get Dr. Golijan for pathology. he is excellent and u will get his pathology textbook when he comes which is absolutely fantastic. i read that whole thing in the last 2 days before the exam. it covers so much besides pathology. and do first aid in the last week, i think thats enough. just a run thru it. in the last 3 weeks before the exam i quickly reviewed all the material again in the kaplan notes. u should relax too. its not an impossible exam. learn the concepts and u will be fine. i think u should try to write the exam within 2 months of the finish of the live lectures. u apply for the exam as quickly as possible and pick a date and fix it and arrange ure timetable to that and dont change it. so good luck to u! q-bank score - 74% usmle cd score-41, 44, 39 kaplan simulation test-74%

Hi roboksh, great score and BEST OF LUCK FOR STEP 2!!!!. I also have a questions, i have been studying micro and immuno from first aid, and if i get confused about some concepts, i look them up in jawetz, but i was looking thru some kaplan stuff and i tried to do some questions in the end of kaplan chapters, and i could'nt get them because those things weren't covered in first aid, what do you suggest I do, i mean should i re read the kaplan micro then cuz my exa is in a month and a half and i wanna start physio, path, and pharm as well, which i wanna spend more time on. I am really confused, what do you think i should do? Thanx in advance.

Hello Robkosh97 , I have Kaplan Q-Book 2001 (850 q ) . Is it enough as a question bank ? Is it necessary to use other Q books ? What are these ones? Are they superior to Kaplan Q - Book ?

Dr. Shar, 240/97 sounds so real but 235/99 doesn't. Did you see the paper by yourself? I understand that the 2 digit score is a percentil that means is variable but not in the same year period. There are some variations from year to year but I don't think 235/99 could be a real score at least from this year.
