yes i did the USMLE cd only once. in the last week before the exam i ran thru all the subjects. concentrated on physio a bit more. i read first aid very quickly. the last 2 days i only did goljans pathology. i also did like 250 questions from q-bank left and i finished that off also. my advice to everyone is to set a date for the exam and stick with it. no matter how long one studies u feel u r never ready. so pick a date. work towards it and go with a positive attitude. thats what i did and it worked i guess. good luck!

Do you have on hand the ISBN number of the goljan Pathology?
Thanks

unfortunately there is no ISBN number cause this vook of his is actually kaplan notes which has his copyright on it. thats all. sorry about that. please check out his bookson the market. he told us he had a new book coming out in march. well sorry i couldnt help. best of luck!

well my advice to all is to pick an exam date annd stick to it and dont change it. then make ure study plans accordingly to ure date. at least 1 month before the exam u should review your material again. the 1st month or moth and half should be mainly focussed on reading and gaining concepts with few questions also. after this ure focus should be on more questions. 3000-4000 questions should be done i feel before going for the exam. kaplan q-bank is a must!!!! it is the cloesest thing to the exam. if u can score above a 70% in q-bank, u should score above a 85% on the real exam. try to be in a discussion group. thats what i did. we met once a week. decided a subject to study for the week and meet up every friday. we would do 50 questions from 10 am to 7 pm on that particular subject from the kaplan q-book. discuss the right and wrong answers and everyone contibutes little bit of what they know. so u get to learn different things and from differrent perspectives. was very helpful. another thing is some people will be strong in certain areas. like i was not too good at the calculations in physiology but one of the guys in my group was pretty good and so he helped. i was pretty good in pharmac so i helped the others. was very good. i highly recommend this stategy to everyone. i had no plans of doing it but i am glad i did. do first aid in the last week before the exam. i only used it for 2 days actually. the charts and pictures in the kaplan notes are more than enough. try to run thru a pathology book to see pictures. also i recommend webpath.com. please try to relax on and off. see a movie once in awhile. i basically did not study much on the weekends except in the last few weeks before the exam. be positive when going for the exam. no one ever feels ready for the exam. try to get as many questions right as u can. when i finshed my exam i felt as if didnt kill it. but was not too hard or too easy. so....... well things worked out. good luck to all!!!!!

Hi Robkosh! Congrats on your great score, wish you the same on your next test.
Would you tell me this please! I use independent books and I don't have any Kaplan book or note. Is Kaplan notes are diffirent than the Kaplan organ books. When you said Kaplan notes you mean that Kaplan lecture notes, right? If Kaplan organ books are diffirent than lecture notes which one should I buy? Please help me with this! Also Kaplan notes are total of in how many books? Thanks Robkosh!

Thanks Robkosh for a quick reply!
Can you tell me this again! Which Kaplan book or books are the best in this series? I am asking this because probably you read them all. There are 7 books for 7 subjects, right? So are they equally good? If you recomend which ones you think is the best in these books and must read? Thank you Rob! Best luck!

What other questions besides q Bank did you do? My test is by the end of May and I'm finishing with q bank in these days. At this point I really don't know what to do, either redo qbank or buy some other thing or what about the free questions of EasyUSMLE? I regret not having done qbank properly as I did it at my own pace by subject and reviewing every questions. Although my average was around 84% I understand it doesn't mean anything since I took my time to answer each question. Now I would like to experience the random and time pressure of the real thing. Please any suggestion?
Thanks

all the kaplan books r good. i suggest adding hi yield anatomy with ure kaplan anatomy. good luck.

regarding the reading the kaplan notes again. of course u must. whether before the q-bank or usmle cd doesnt matter too much. i read the notes again 2 weeks befroe the exam. just a fast review. usmle cd 1 week before is good.

Thanks Robkosh!
I read all individual books ( BRS, HY, Lippinkott for Biochem, Levinson for Micro and Immuno, Micro made RS for Micro, Katzung for Pharm ect...)and now i am thinking read Kaplan notes on top of them. Do you think Kaplan notes nesessary to read on top of other relativily bigger books? Please give me your opinion! I need to decide soon! Thanks Rob!

if u have read all those books then i dont think u need them but i feel they wil make good review book at the end if u know what i mean. like u can run thru the kaplan lectures notes in 2 weeks. i mean as a review of course. but if u think u can quickly review thru the books u have then i think that will be enough. oh yes i highly recommend pathology goljans book. i mean u can u se it for step 2 also. fantastic book.

i think q-bank is enough. i didnt use anything else for questions. kaplan q-book and q-bank i used. i had another 2 question boook but had no time to do them. i think these will be enough. cause these r the most up to date. redoing the q-bank is a good idea but it might take a long time and do it timed with 50 questions in each block. timing is important. no other source out there comes as close to the real exam like the kaplan q-bank. so i suggest doing timed blocks now. then after that 1 month before ure exam do the kaplan simulation test which is 7 hours and timed which wil feel like the real thing. good luck!

Thank you for you advise,i have one more question:for how long do i have to do the q bank cause i don't think i will have more than 2 weeks to do it,i am planing to do the usmle cd and by the time i will finish it(whith the review of the kaplan note) the time will be over,so please give more advise about that :?:
