Simon, you will be doing great. Just don't slow down too much. It is ok to take a break here and there. But please keep your fighting spirits high, don't let up yet.

Thank you all dear friends. Hope everyone had a good weekend. A new week with new opportunities to improve our score. Did a random unused block in kaplan and scored 69%(kaplan all users average on this was 60%). This is my best so far at a random unused block in Kaplan. Made 3 silly mistakes due to not applying my thought process. Will keep on working on it. Need to focus on weak areas now.

Happy studying everyone.

Yup! simon...........new week..........got to double up and strive for that double 9. Thanks for your concern.......I appreciate you dropping by my journal. Let work hard this week on our weak areas! AT our best.........

Thank you target and usmlekiller. I did a kaplan unsed random block this am with a lot of distractions/interruptions and scored only 58%!!(all kaplan users 58%), I hope it is the distraction, yet to review the responses and find out. I will change my qbank to the time of the day with least distractions.

Yes, time to gear up, find the gaps, patch it up and make our voyage strong towards the Gold!

Happy studying everyone.

Keep going, simon. Your hard work will pay off. Have a good productive day.

Simon, I think the goal towards doing questions should not be to eliminate distractions, but to do your best inspite of them. Remember, exam center is a very distracting place. Inspite of the silence they try to maintain, there will be people coming in and out, rustling of papers, even noisy typing not to mention your own stress which may be way less or way more than you are prepared for. 7 blocks make it a day long exam. It would be my suggestion to try to do the best that you can alongside distractions and at all times of the day- especially if it is during the 8am to 4pm time interval in which you will be doing your exam. All the best.

Thank you veteran, I will try to give my best amidst distractions.

Well, did a block in Kaplan qbank, random, unused questions and got only 54%! Kaplan average for all users was 52%! Was a tough block, will go back and review the responses and mistakes.

Happy studying everyone.

keep at it simongrin

Thank you usmlekiller. Did the last unused kaplan qbank block and scored 60%, all users average 58%. So, my overall average is close to all users, I need to work next 50 days to excel in score to get a high score in the exam. My strategy on avoiding silly mistakes is working, it came down to 2-3 from 7-8 several weeks ago. Still need to work on making no silly mistakes at all.

I have about 15 days left in q bank, I will work on visiting all the questions i got wrong and fine tuning my understanding.

Happy studying everyone.

Good going, simon. Keep working on your wrong Qs until you are close to 90-100%. I would suggest you to extend your qbank if you can't finish reviewing. I personally think it is one of the most effective ways to improve your score.

Praise and Glory to God

Dear Friends,

I took NBME form 1 today as planned and scored 450. I am very happy about it. This is what I was aiming and hoping to get. All praise and Glory to God. I am very happy that all my effort in taking off 3 weeks and also postponing my exam based on my previous NBME score has been fruitful. This is a big Psychological milestone for me. God probably wanted me to wait and get a very good score, rather than hurrying up. I feel like saying, 'Yes, We can' (Though somebody owns this slogan now) loud.

I will work my best in the upcoming weeks to get the best possible score i can. All the bars in my NBME scoresheet are moving up and i got one star (musculoskeletal). I need to work on getting maximum number of stars possible.

Commit, Thank you for your valuable advice. I will try and review and the questions in q bank again.

Happy studying friends. Family time now.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Wow, simon, that's big. It is a big improvement and a great boost of confidence. I think you earned it by your hard work! We will all get there. Along the way, we will learn how to deal with all those easy or difficult situations. Man, I am happy for you. Keep it going. You will have more improvements coming your way. Enjoy your long weekend with your family!

Simon, this is a milestone indeed! I am so happy for you! nod
I think for the first time, you got close to the score you had predicted for yourself.
I know you will be going back to work full time in the coming week. It will hard to keep the momentum. Please dont take your knowledge for granted, as medicine is so volatile. In the upcoming days, keep a schedule that, while letting you pay more attention to your weak areas, does not neglect your strong ones.
We know you can! We always did! grin
