Hope all is well with you, Simon. Thinking of you and wishing you the best as always! Keep cool. You have come far. Slow and steady does it. We know where you are, and where you want to be. It is a matter of time, strategy and work and it will certainly pay off. You are an inspiration to many and all your friends wish you well.

Dear Friends, I took NBME form 3 today and I got 390. I am supposed to be disappointed but in a way little relieved because now I know where I truly stand, these two performance in the past few days have showed me where truly I am. I have rescheduled my exam to October 20th which gives me nearly 60 days of additional prep to climb higher. I will sincerely give my best in whatever time I have and try to get the best score I possibly could. This is my plan. Thank you dear all friends for your support. This is an uphill battle, we will all win with perseverance and prayers. One thing I am a little disappointed is my 3 weeks of holidays which I had planned for exam time, of which 2 are almost over. I will try my best to use the one more week I have before I go to work. I may not be able to take much time before my actual exam, thats why i choose the monday exam date (october 20). God knows our limitations and shortcomings as well as our efforts and struggles, he will reward us accordingly. Now time for a break with the family. Happy studying friends.

Thank you antidepressant and usmlekiller. My Plan I have one more week of holiday I had taken for this exam, I cannot cancel it and retake it closer to my planned exam unfortuately, so might as well use it wise. So, here is the plan: I have taken so far, NBME forms 2,5 and 3. There are still 3 more forms in NBME available, forms 1,4 and 6. I will work my best the remaining one week of my holiday and take NBME form 1 next friday (August 29). I will try to work on weak areas in all the subject/systems meanwhile. The goal is to get 450. After that I will work for 4 weeks revising all the subjects and focussing on my weak areas, and take NBME form 4, end of september. Finally, I will take NBME form 6, a week before my exam date on October 20th. This is the plan i have so far. Of course, life throws a lot of things at us to destabilize our plans, we will just have to take it as it comes and do our best. As someone said, life is not a sprint, it is a marathon. We just have to keep up the pace, and do our best and leave the rest to God. PS. I think, it would be appropriate for me to change my journal title to Step 1 in October. Happy studying friends and Have a productive weekend.

hi You made good decision about your exam. Keep your spirit up. Plan seems ok but why you emphasizing more on NBME? as you already made your mind for delaying your exam.so i think taking NBME after a week review is not smart move. Please don,t rush for NBME. Take your time review the NBME which you already did. Review each NBME QS carefully and figure out where you went wrong. i read somewhere that when we do Qs wrong we should think three cause: 1) Knowledge problem mean you don,t understand what question really ask you and even reading explanation won,t make any sense then ofcourse we have to read that topic from Notes and try to understand. even reading that information from Text book is worth even though it takes our few mins or hrs but its worth. 2)Memorization problem: mean you know but some how you are not able to recall. well for this Key is review again and again. try to figure out which way helps you to memorize. like me doing Qs really helped me to memorize topics. 3) Silly mistakes: mean you know the answer but you pick wrong by not reading question carefully. for this i think doing more question solve this problem. If possible do UWQ . But again quality matter more then quantity Hope For Best. GL

Well said, hnnb. I agree 100% with all he/she said. Simon, if you haven't done it before, please take a long and hard review on your previous three forms. Those Qs may open a new door for you by identifying the real problems. Also, sometime, quality is more important than simple repetition, although repetition is definitely a key part of this preparation. Have a good productive weekend, my friend simon. We will always root for you.

Thank you, Hnnb and commit. The reason I decided to take NBME foms in the manner that I have planned is because I work well with deadlines. Besides, I want to see continuing improvement in my performance in the scores throughtout my preparation. I felt that my personal assessment and expected score in my first NBME fell way short of my expectations, and the subsequent 2 NBME's showed me where I really am. I agree that quality is more important that quantity and I am planning on working on the strategies you had suggested while reviewing my prior NBMEs. Thank you again for your great suggestions. Happy studying everyone.

Thank you antidepressant. Hi usmlekiller, I finished UW couple of months ago once, didnt get a chance to revise! Would be a good idea if you can. I am almost 90% through with Kaplan, will finish the rest in the coming week. Did a block in Goljan rapid review questions. It was relatively very easy. Still made 14 mistakes with 4 silly mistakes due to not applying my thinking process correctly. Time to focus on my weak areas. Happy studying everyone.

Thank you target and usmlekiller. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I have been going to bed early for the past couple of nights - after postponing my exam on thursday. This is not good, I shouldnt lose the momentum of my prep, hopefully it is just a random occuring. Did another block in Goljan q's, made 18 mistakes!! Bad. Will review the responses, assess my weakness and work on it this am. Happy studying everyone.
