What an exhausting day? Just completed the 336 questions marathon! It sure was very exhausting physically. Felt fine the first block, felt dozed the second block midway, third block was ok. felt a little fatigued fourth block, took a five minute break until 4th block, took lunch and started 5th block, fifth block was fine, sixth block felt brain drained, last block was ok. Did random unused questions from across all the systems.

Didnt score well overall, 52%, kaplan average 57% all users. Now will need to work for the NBME. Since i planned this only couple of days back, i lost a day in my schedule, so will need to move my next NBME to Monday instead of sunday as originally planned. I will give all my best and leave the rest to God.
7 days to NBME, 18 days to presumptive exam date!

Will start review for NBME now along with a block of questions everyday. Will hopefully complete the Qbank by sunday. Off to GI.

Simon, keep up the good work. That's a big test of endurance. 336Q is a lot to handle. After those 200Q NBME forms, I am already exhausted. I should do the same thing later to have a feel of the test.

Wow.....I would love to apply your study plan at the end of my 2nd reading.....very good work shocked

simon how is full time study coming along. Report more often since you are home. You are taking all the right steps - it is just a matter of little more brushing up before we crack it down. Lets do it ! I will most probably take NBME almost he same time you are .......I am glad I have company though I am way behind.......just doing my 2nd revision........and best part is I am taking 3 days before you ! God give me strength!nod

Thank you antidepressant. Yes, all the questions are from Kaplan qbank. Thank you usmlekiller, commit and karime. My disappointment is still the low scores!! As commit said earlier, i was falsely excited by my improving scores when i reviewed systemwise and did respective questions in blocks. The main advantage of doing that way is, it helped me to bring the concepts I read in a question mode and also was able to go and check for those ones i got wrong. Will keep working to improve my scores. Another factor was the physical exhaustion when i did the 336 questions. I would have gotten a little better score if i had done it in blocks with adequate time in between, of course this is not possible in real exam, so i have to prepare myself physically to have optimal concentration during the exam.

I will be spending the next few days, reading all the explanation for the 336 questions and reviewing FA and other sources in preparation of next NBME coming Monday. I still have 300 unused questions in kaplan, which i will do after my NBME.

Hi target, full time study is coming along ok, just need to use my time wise. Glad to know that you are planning on taking NBME around the same time. I am thinking of taking NBME form 5, what do you think? I am glad that i have a company too. Since i am home preparing full time now, i dont access computer that often to post my progress. Until last week it was different, unless i had a meeting, i was in front of a computer most of the time.

Target, it doesnt matter if you are doing 2nd or 5th revision, what matters is how much you are able to retain what you have studied, I think you are doing very well. Keep up the faith and do your best and God will take care of the rest.

Happy studying.

Had a relatively good day studying. Reviewed Anat and CNS. I am getting a better understanding of things in this review. CNS was one of my weakest areas, hope i had changed it to be a strong one. Reviewed a block from monday's simu exam, had 5 silly mistakes in that one block! too bad. Need to really fine tune in this area to prevent unnecessarily losing marks. Any advise friends?
5 days to NBME, 16 days to presumptive exam date!

Will review biochem tomorrow. Off to bed now. Happy studying everyone.

hi simon,

great goingnod very impressed by ur progress.

for me to avoid those silly mistakes, i have to be fully focused...there is a difference in my scores when i put my ear plugs in and give all to a particular block...there shouldn't be a single silly one if the qs and answers had been read carefully.

keep practicing...that's the key...you are doing an excellent jobnod

Good going, simon.

To be honest with you, I have learned to just let it go of those silly mistakes. I know it is a big price to pay. But at the moment of the test, we have to move on quickly to finish the block. Time pressure is one big reason why we make mistakes. If we ar behind of our schedule in a block, the nervousness and fast reading means brain freezing and losing some important details, which may cost us some questions. Other than that, I think it is our nature that is prone to make mistakes. Only thing we can do about those mistakes is to improve our speed significantly. If you have extra extra time to review each qs, you will cut the chances for mistakes to the minimum. Keep practicing is the key, as study499 mentioned. Those are just my 2 cents.

simon have a great day studying !nodTime to stay focussed and improve every single minute!

Thank you vaibhavbora.

Thank you friends study499, target, commit for your suggestions. I will keep trying in this area. One challenge is, I am not a fast reader. I usually finish the block with 5-10 minutes to spare, and i use that time to review marked items. Veteran suggested earlier that i should try to finish in 40 minutes if possible and not just review marked but also review all. I couldnt do this. But i am trying to finish it by 45 minutes, but its been a challenge.

Had a little slow day today - Biochem review slowed me down. Hopefully will catch up as plan.
4 days to NBME, 15 days to presumptive exam date!

Lets keep rolling friends - time is flying fast.

Happy studying everyone.

Thank you antidepressant and commit. It is taking more time to review all the subjects, which i want to do before my nbme, than i expected. will try my best to get there. I plan to take form 5. Please keep me in your prayers friends.
3 days to NBME, 14 days for the presumptive exam date!

Will need to finish reading the explanations for the 7 blocks, i did on monday. Have 3 more left. Will keep pushing.

Happy studying all.
