Hi Mohgan10,

I see nobody answered you. The pure truth is impossible to tell....because it depends. I wish I can tell you stop or don't stop, i don't know...you see, most programs want high scores and the majority have those so called filters that eliminate those candidates with scores lower than 80 or 85....

Also, what people also have to know and some ignore, is that USMLE scores, are only one part of the entire application....you might have a really impressive CV or some very good letters of recommendation, you might score 99 to step2.....The rest of the application is important. I don't know, where are you from? May I know some more stuff about you? Student/graduate? What else do you have on your cv? What specialty you want? You can write me on private if you want.

Depends a lot of your motivation too. What do you want to do?

What can I tell you though is that you passed, and you passed from the first try right? Passing from the first try is important, but is "luck" i guess the rest....you will need to contact the residency programs and tell them your situation, you don't want to apply for a program that will "eliminate" you without knowing some things about you....

You need to think very well, and prepare everything like a battle....also you have to be very honest with yourself if you think you can't do it. Only you know the answer, but you need to know what are you getting into....

Best of luck in taking the right decision for you,

Leila.

i dont know too much about residency programs, but i do know that a high step 2 will also be helpful. as you know from reading this forum, a lot of ppl dont pass on their first attempt and still get residencies. so you, passing on your first attempt is a great thing, and still may have a shot. i suggest looking around it the match/residency forum and posting your question there. i'm sure ppl will have more advice for you. congrats on passing! and good luck!
