A.Cataract?? Usually cataracts are uncommon in childrean.Cataracts in children can be congenital or acquired.Congenital cataracts are associated with other metabolic disorders caused by inherited enzyme deficiencies.Acquired cataracts in childrean may be due to diabetes, poisoning, trauma, etc. So this child may be sufferring from cataract acquired due to diabetes. It's only my guess.

Hmm Good one this is good Now the symptoms look a lot like Diabetes so DM-1 should be A Cataracts. Anything else does not fit. Yes only a Mid line Hamartoma would fit because it can cause CDI (central diabetes insipidus) and Bitemporal hemianopsia which is not in the options Nothing else fits here

The correct answer is C syptoms suggest DM type1,the high glucose in the lens is reduced to sorbitol by aldolase reductase, and water enters the lens by osmosis, therby altering the refractive index of the eye,,over time the osmotic damage will cause cataract.

Is it only me or did the definition of Refractive errors get changed ?? Need ssome serious references guys. and please no WIKI put more heart into it. And shed some light on the source of the question. The alteration in refraction which occurs due accumulation of sorbitol is a Refractive Error like the real ones eg Myopia, Hyperopia. Please discuss.
