Hi, I've got my exam on March 31. Still haven't done first read of biochem. Is High Yield Biochem (1999) good enough for it or should I absolutely use kaplan biochem. I hate biochem and feel I don't have enough time. Please advise.

Kaplan Biochem is the best with which u can prepare in a short span of time....even the lectures including.... u will get very good grasp of things with kaplan biochem lectures.

Hi Kalyann, I've read your jounal off and on. I really admire your courage, confidence, and work ethic. I always wanted to ask you a few questions, never got around to it though. So I guess today's my chance. It's my 2nd attempt at step one. My problem is when I try to read (Kaplan is my source), it takes me a long time and basically the whole day to get thru maybe 50 pages max of the stuff. I feel so frustrated, especially when i see other people. Like when I see you mentioning that you're gonna do such and such topics in a day, I wonder what's wrong with me when everyone else can just zip through the material. For example, biochem is taking me a long long time. It takes me a while to just understand the material, leave alone the process of taking notes. And then I forget quickly what I read. Please offer some tips on how to study fast and effectively. I'm also taking my exam on March 31st, and haven't even completed the first read of most subjects. Do I still have hope? Please do reply!!

hi there,

my point of view: kaplan biochem is goo dbut way too indepth in such a short period of time. just do first aid, i feel it is MORE than enough. if you can get a handle on pass program biochem-that would be best, its only 10 hours of audio, and very good summarize.

if you can't get pass program audios, but feel the first aid isn't enough for you,t hen i suggest you use the high yield series books, for biochem. its one book-90 pages and brilliant. very simple, concise and a great summary with pictures.
if i ever struggle with a subject, i make tiny post its of questions that i can ask myself with the material i just read.

i ask those questions at the end of my read and see if i can answer them. and really , i should be able to if the material had the answer in it. this way i know if i am ready. or else, put little stars next to what you need to reread. and then ge ta family member to ask you about that paragraph.
