finally i finished my step 3 today.
it was the longest exam of my life
first day was long and exhausting..
its actually a test of endurance i feel..
i think I messed up the ccs cases.BUT after I wrote abt the cases here, I am happy that atleast I had a diagnosis to remember!
my cases were
1.menorrhagia in 13 yr old-family H/O bldng disorder
2.44 yr old with amenorrhea- pregnancy
3.acute renal failure- post op patient with decreased urine output
4.severe hyponatremia-old man presenting with fatigue and hyptension
5.SIADH -lung cancer- 58 yrold male smoker with muscle ache,cough and weight loss
6.pcp pneumonia in hiv patient- 27 yr old wid i/v drug abuse, cough , fever, chills, rigor
7.small intestinal obstruction- 71yr old with abdominal pain and vomiting
8.acute pyelonephritis in penicillin allergic patient- 29 yr old with back pain
9.Diabetes Mellitus- 39 yr old woman with fatigue
all case did take the entire 20 mts..so I dont know how successful I was with the management. One problem I had in the beginning was I ordered tests but didnt advance the clock..so in the end I am stuck with spme positive results of some tests only and no definite diagnosis..friends, dont forget to advance the clock, get the result and then do further investigations.
now a long wait for the results..is there a chance that u still can pass wid a bad performance in the ccs?my NBME was 430 and UW cumulative was 54%..

I used first aid and usmle world..didnt read anythng else..did ccs cases frm uw with the usmle cd software. read first aid twice..did all the uw questions..

got my scores today..i passed my step 3 exam! 210/ 86 - though not a very great score..i am happy. Thank u for all the people who have posted in these forums and the administrators..and good luck to all those preparing for the exm !
