Hemolytic Uremic syndrome and Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura and Disseminated intravascular coagulation seems to have the same mechanism. The endothelial cells are damaged and causes thrombi to form. What I don't understand is how come the thrombi in HUS/TTP doesn't consume coagulation factors while thrombi in DIC does? In HUS/TTP bleeding time is prolonged, but PT and PTT are normal while in DIC PT and PTT are both prolonged.

Thanks : )
