its good to see our cool tia back....
i want to tell something i've learnt and what keeps me going when the going gets tough....
i just think that life is throwing these challenges to break me up but I AM NOT GOING TO LET IT GET ME LIKE THIS,so i bounce back on life or whatever that challenge is... this gives me an inner strength to fight and i not only overcome the rough patch but i come out of it as a better and a stronger person.... just think about it.it works...
just be yourself.....cool tia,chirpy tia

Hey Tia,
Hope u r doing fine, just started UW today, and found out that they posted a new self assessment exam. just like that of NBME for 25 $ and for 2 weks, i don't know if answers & expalantion are available for that one too or not ??

Not that i took it.
But i know it from a one on one with the support staff.

How r u girl ?? i miss u so much, miss my inspiration and support, come back soon ... UW is so damn difficult, most of the qs i did till now, only 30% of peopl got right and even some only 11 % can u imagine that ??? if the exam. is like that, sure i'm screwed ...

I'm on the edge of lossing my mind, too much to memorize, too much to correlate, too much qs left, too short of time, so i thought to check on u, c how r u doing ???
Hope that everything is ok with u, if u didn't answer, i'll understand, will assume becasue of the exam. date just around the corner, but plz after u get done, share with us ur exam. experience

Good to c u back, keep going, it is not an easy job to do, but it is not impossible too, u can do it ... i know that it is too much memorization, i use mnemonics which r so, helpful in many of the tough topics, let me share with u a mnemonic i just composed, used some available over the web, modified some and somposed another, hope it helps u ... here it is ....
The phrayngeal Pouches i created a formula for them ...
1A, 2P, 3 TIP, 4 SPUB
It might seem even more difficult but let me explain ...
1A .. 1 for the 1st letter of Alphabet which is A stands for Auditory ... So, 1st Pouch gives the epithelial lining of Auditory tube and middle ear cavity
2P ... 2 for the 2nd letter of the Alphabet which is the P ... for Palatine ... So, 2nd pouch gives the epithelial lining of cryPts of Palatine tonsil
3 TIP ... 3 then 3 letters TIP start with T of Three ... these letters are the abbreviations given in kaplan for those derivatives and stands for Thymus and Inferior Parathyroid gland
4 SPUB ... 4 then 4 letters SPUB ... Also the abbreviations given in the notes for Superior Parathyroid gland and Ultimobranchial Body
The Arches ...
The Nerves ...
March 1975 i.e. 1975 = X, IX, VII, V and March to remember it is V3 ....
Arrange them .... Arch 1 gives V3, 2 gives VII, 3 gives IX and both 4 & 6 will have X
The Arteries ...
1st - part of MAXillary a. -------------- 1st arch is MAXimal
2nd- Stapedial a. & Hyoid a. ------- Second for Stapedial
3rd- Common Carotids and parts of internal Carotids ---- C is the 3rd letter of Alphabet
4th- on the lt. --> AORtic Arch and on the Rt.--> Rt. Subclavian ----
4th arch (4 limbs) = Systmeic & Also remember that AOR is from FOUR
6th- Pulmonary arteries and Ductus arteriosus ---- 6th arch= Pulmonary and Pulmonary - Systemic Shunt ( Ductus )
Muscles (Mesoderm) & Skeletal (Neural Crest) Derivatives ...
1st arch ...
Muscles => V3 innervates M.D. My T.V. i.e.
Muscles of mastication ( masseter, temporalis, pterygoid)
Digastric ( Anterior Belly)
Mylohyoid
tensor Tympani
tensor Veli palatini
Skeletal => I'M getting Skeletal like Silvester
Skeletal remind u of skeletal derivatives then
I for the 1 i.e. 1st arch and for Incus
M for Malleus/Maxilla/Mandible
S of Silvester for Sphenomandibular ligament
2nd Arch ....
To remember the Muscles innervated by the CN VII ...
Imagine someone making the Facial Expression to say " PSS ... "
Facial Expression muscles
Posterior Belly of digastric
Stapedius ----> and it reminds u of the other skeletal derivative Stapes
Stylohyoid -----> and it reminds u of the the Hyoid ... but not all the Hyoid, we still in the 2nd level so choose the lesser that is above i.e. the Lesser Horn of the upper body of the Hyoid.( and when u get to the 3rd arch do the opposite )

Hey tia,
nice to hear from u, just do ur best, u know what, i came to realize a very simple but important thing about this step Vs step2ck, in step1 the qs are easy, u just need to know where they ask and memorize these prinicples very well and u'll get a flying score, while in CK, u don't even need to open the notes, u may have the notes in ur hands and u still can't get the answer right, so, Step1 just needs little extra work and we will be done with flying scores ISA like milee and go celebrate with him or her ... do ur best and if u needed any help, i'm here to help u just let me know,
I'm done with 700qs of UW till now, still 1300 to go and dividing my day between review and solving UW, each day i do 50qs, timed, random, all subjects ... what about u???
My problem is that => it is just now that i'm starting to memorize and connect things across the disciplins .... so, i'm not sure how it is gonna end up, as i keep getting very low scores in UW just because i didn't memorized everything yet, but i'm moving on, keep telling myself learn from tia and her spirit ... just move on and u'lll be ok ISA ...
I think the last week will be the most critical week of my prep., if i managed to review everything to the best i can, I'll do ok ISA ...
What about u?? how is ur prep going ???

Just raise ur eyes away from the obstacle at ur feet and focus at the road ahead of u, forget about the lil bump infront of ur feet,step on it, crush it, it looks so small in the picture of ur shiny glamorous future, have a lil peak to the road behind to see how far did u go, but come back quicly  & look forward again to see how close u r to the finish line, to ur dream, ur releif, ur reward, ur SUCCESS WITH FLYING SCORES ..... what a nice picture ??!!!
Waiting for u here ... we started this together and we will finish together ISA ... don't keep me waiting for too long
