Hi! does anyone know if it's ok to contact programs that have a history of unfilled positions at around this time to ask if they prefer to receive documents from scramble applicants via fax or ERAS? how will you compose your letter when you email them about this? i just thought it might be more convenient to know their preference now rather than calling them at scramble time. just getting through their lines will probably be a separate hell in itself thanks! hoping for some enlightenment......

i thought about that too, but decided not too. I think by doing so BEFORE the scramble is kinda rude -- I think most programs try to fill spots by the match and those who have a hard time doing so are the less desired by programs by applicants and that is why they always have open spots -- I think programs know that too... that's why I think waiting for the scramble is probably best. Kinda like "hey, I noticed that every year you have spots open, so how would you like me to send the information this year" --> kinda odd before knowing they actually will have open spots.

Don't do it. At that point, we have no more knowledge about our positions than you do. It's not going to do a thing.

DO NOT DO IT! Applicants who contact programs prior to noon eastern time on Tuesday of Match Week are in breach of the Match Participation Agreement. (Qoating NRMP)

I think that would be offensive.

Offensive or not, I have received 6 emails this morning. Do you want to know what I am doing with them? No, I know you don't want to know that I am just deleting them. Shocking? Yes, it probably is - but between now and the match results, there is to be no communication. None. Zilch. Nada.

bbb: I bet you are already all too busy the way it is. The thing is people are trying to run for it before the flag is waved. Perfectly understandable, but still... Hold your horses, my friends, hopefully you won't need the scramble!

Thanks Arlete - people can call me names behind my back if they want to for me deleting these emails, I'll get over it.

OK thanks for the feedback! Just wanted to make sure i've got everything covered coz it's kinda confusing with this match about the stuff that you can and cannot do. I know it sounds offensive to do that, but I read somewhere about people doing that. Thanks again! I promise not to contact.
