Hello everyone, I AM starting my studying seriously today. I have taken Step 1 twice before, and it was all about bad timing in the past that made me fail. I know residency chances look slim for someone like me who has failed step 1 twice, but I decided to make my resume lenghtier so that it WOULD matter to PD's when they screen my application during interviews. I completed my Masters, got a research job at a decent hospital in IM, and got a couple of abstracts published along with 2 poster presentations. I just got a paper published in an American society journal recently.. So here goes my prep journal. I plan on taking step 1 in May end or mid June depending on my preps. I am determined to apply for Match 2009, simply becos my PI keeps on asking me when I am going to take the steps.I really really want to take the steps, and since my last attempt was 2.5yrs ago, I didn't read in that time up until now, because I was certain that I could not do it. the last time I took the exam, i left out mol bio, genetics and immuno and read physio just once. I managed to get a 70, i dont remember my 3 digit score.I really didn't prepare well, becos I took the step when I was doing my Masters and there was so much distraction., My musband is reall supportive and wants me to take the steps for my satisfaction so that I do not feel horrible 5 yrs down, about how I could have done it but didn't try hard enough I have been put off my times, when I read the forums about attemtps and whoever reads this pls, feel free to post your opinions. I have cried and almost left my dream several times, in the past and recetly 2 wks ago. However I still don't know if I can do it, but 5 yrs down the line, I don't want to look back and regret about why I didn't give my 100% and try one last time. SO my fellow colleagues, IMG's , pls motivate me, give me your opions and help me along this journey. I am not aiming for a 99, but atleast in the 90's. I can still dream huh?!! I am planning to finifh Neurophysio from BRS today and start either Respi or GIT. Whoever is preparing for the Step 1, pls feel free to join this topic and post your experiences and together we can DO IT.
