A 15 yr old boy who noted feeling sick after a school picnic as been vomiting on and off for 3 days and has been unable to hold down food or fluids.He will exhibit all of the following changes except
a.elevated plasma pH
b.hypokalemia.
c.hypoventilation.
d.increased secretion of aldosterone.
e.decreased distal Hydrogen ion secretion

Tough one to call. He has a metabolic alkalosis, BUT I think distal H+ secretion will be increased, since this is an aldosterone mediated function and aldosterone is definitely increased.

I agree with idiopathic that the answer is E.
This phenomenon is paradoxical aciduria.

Similar situation, though more extreme with pyloric stenosis.
