Friday, June 13, 2003 In this issue: 1. Token Schedule. 2. Wait! Do not send us any documents yet. 3. You may apply with only Step 1 scores. Dear Doctor or Doctor2b: 1. Token Schedule. We are still four weeks away from sending out the first ERAS Tokens. The schedule calls for us to issue Tokens in the week following the US Independence Day on July 4. If you request your Token between now and July 6, you should receive it via email on Tuesday, July 8; maybe even on Monday, July 7. Then you will still have to wait until July 15, before you can use your Token to register at https://services.aamc.org/eras/myeras2004 2. Wait! Do not send us any documents yet. Once you have registered and therefore have an ERAS record, please send us those documents that you already have on hand. The rest of your documents can be sent later, as you receive them. 3 Yes, you may apply with only a Step 1 score. Can you apply to programs without having passed all exams? The brief answer is YES. However, to increase your chances of being considered for a residency, you should have passed as many exams as possible when you apply. Most programs start their applicant selection process in October/November. They may hesitate committing a position to an applicant who still has to take a Step and/or the CSA. Who are your competitors, in addition to all US students? Answer: Those IMGs who were in similar positions last year, not having passed all exams early enough in the ERAS cycle. In the meantime they have passed the last exam, are ECFMG certified and ready to start their residency. Therefore, if you have control over your exam schedule, try to have passed as many exams as possible before you apply. While the Match results will be posted in March, the decisions leading up to the Match are being made much, much earlier, starting in October/November. Please do not push the "Reply" button.
