hello everyone,
i had a question.
am currently studying for step 2 ck.
i am using kaplan lectures, as well as videos, and UW qbank.
do you need to use a review book for step 2?
whereas in step 1 everyone uses FA....it seems thats not the case for step 2.
someone told me to use CRUSH the usmle. so am wondering if this is a good book and/or what review book is good or if at all even necessary????
PLEASE HELP!!!

Best is Kaplan, as they say. FA latest version is a good alternative in case you have less time. Rest are considered just adjunctives like Crush, Boards n Wards or Secrets.

i was wondering WHICH book i should use as an adjunct...CRUSH OR SECRETS???
is kaplan all you need or should i read one of the above mentioned books as well, in addition to kaplan lectures???

They are all almost the same with minor differences in the patterns but good for quick last minute revisions. Secrets gives u some more tips, Boards n Wards it precise and to the point whereas Crush has been rated to be better of the two on the forum

secrets and crush are written by the same author and are almost the same in content -only difference is in style.secrets has got a q/a pattern wheras crush has more of an bold outline pattern.u can go whichever style suits u.boards and wards is a pretty good review book..has more info in it comparitively but has some mistakes(am talkin of the 2007 third edition)so check out for it
but most of the seniors in the forum go for mainly multiple kaplan reviews along with uw notes.if u wish u can add any of the above..

I like one called ACLS for the step2 everything is tables or drawing to remember.
Gives you a general picture of everything, but is just for a quick review.
I personally use it to have fresh some concepts.

by the way, i had another question:::
i have the UW book set....and do plan on getting the online version....but i was wondering am supposed to take notes (like in a notebook) even if i have the book version? what do you guys think. i mean right now im just taking tests and underlying and highliting what i think is IMPORTANT in the questions....but everyones talking about UW notes and how you have to take notes. any advice on this matter would also be appreciated.

If you have book version then you can highlight preferably with a yellow marker and save time but notes you have to make for the online version as you cannot copy paste from their website.
