Hi Guys, I had graduated in 2001 and i finished a residency in my home country in 2006. i will be running for this september match enshallah. does any body know if the years that i spent in that residency will be deducted from the 5 years limit most PDs put between graduation and match? I mean wil PDs consider me an old graduate? thank you

2001 is your graduation year.Residency outside of US doesn't count.

yes you are an old grad, but your residency will be a big plus factor...i graduated 2002, still managed to get a good number of IVs and even prematched....dont let your year of gradn put your hopes down...write down all your clinical experience after graduation in your profile, and always mention your residency when you do your IVs...i met someone during the IV process who is also an old grad (older than you)..finished residency in his home country, and still got an IV from a hospital that had a 5-yr cutoff limit..so sometimes, even though some programs have cut-off limits posted on their website, they still invite old grads because of post grad experience...i guess its a case-to-case basis for some programs and some applicants...hope this helps...GL!
